The Rake's Progress
THE RAKE'S PROGRESS by Alex Birch Category: Adult Words: 500 Mark Spencer was a bum fondler. A horny, good looking son of a bitch arse grabber. He couldnt resist a woman's bottom no matter who it belonged to. Whether she was single, married, willing or not Mark would take proprietary hold of her bottom, squeeze it and smack it as if it was his by right. He would do it in bars, on business trips..whatever..because he was rich and powerful and he could. David Allwood stared morosely into his coffee and contemplated the callypgian lusts of his boss. Why did he care? Well he didn't until Mark had groped his wife there at the works do in front of everyone. Stella had wriggled uncomfortably as the sinewy fingers slid down the back of her dress and took firm purchase on her bottom. She didnt want to make a scene but had looked desperately in her husband's direction for help...forlornly. David had chatted on about the year end figures as if nothing was amiss but he'd felt his face flush with anger and embarrassment to be so fucking impotent as Mark's hand began a gentle smacking motion on Stella's bottom. That night she had turned away from David in bed in silent anger. Today he would accompany Mark to the pub as always Thursday evenings for an accounts summary meeting, because he was told to. Why not tell him to fuck off? He knew the answer ..where would he get as good a job if he was fired? He sat and pondered for awhile, then suddenly leapt to his feet, an evil grin crossing his face, and reached for the phone...... The Red Lion was almost empty as they entered the bar and David reached for his wallet as always. A girl was practising on the pool table and David nudged his boss's arm. 'She looks lonely...' he smiled '...youre a keen player why don't you give her a game while I get the drinks in?' Mark smirked in that Richard Gere way of his and sauntered over to the pool table, his hand automatically reaching down to stroke the shapely bottom as he said suavely 'Hi honey, maybe you need company ..' then no more as, in a blinding flash, the girl swore, swivelled, kicked him hard in the nuts and, as his head jackknifed forward, she punched him in the nose. He gave a groan as blood poured down his face then he passed out on the floor. 'Oh my God..' David gasped '...get an ambulance' and the landlord dived for the phone. *************************************** Much later at home, and laughing like a hyena, David dialled a familar number. 'Hi love..' he chortled '...naah he wont press charges...the landlord is prepared to testify to the assault!!! What?? No, he doesnt know you're my sister and I think we should leave him in ignorance. What?? Er no...I dont think I mentioned you were the regional kick boxing champion either!'

This reviewer was pleased at finding so many dramatic devices in 'The Rake's Progress'. There was the dramatist's art of soliloquy and introspection to give insight into a character's unspoken mind. There was the cinematographer's arts of suspense, dialogue, and 'fade-out' to simulate the passage of time, and even something resembling the bare-knuckle bar-room brawl of long-ago westerns. 'The Rake's Progress' is a story well-told of sexual jealousy and revenge.

I marvel at the use of the word callypgian in this story. I was able to find: (adjective): from the Greek kallipygos : meaning having shapely buttocks. But, when reading a story, it loses something for me, when I need to dig for the meaning of a word. I don't think it is a word that most people have stored in their memory. Maybe it is, and I just am behind time. This story just did not work for me as a "spanking" story. It might be interesting as part of a much larger story. This writer does seem to have the ability to write interesting stories and I look forward to reading more.

This is a very satisfying story - there's nothing quite as pleasant to read as an account of a thoroughly unpleasant character getting his comeuppance. Stories like this should be taught in gender relations courses. Nice job!
