I am pleased to announce that the results are in for the Summer Short Story Contest of 2006. Our total number of entries at the end of the contest was 250, in nine different categories. To give you an idea of the amount of work our reviewers faced I should mention that each story was reviewed by three or four different people. A minimum of 750 reviews were completed, over a three month period.
A couple of our readers were not able to continue with the contest because of real-life problems, but most stuck with it until the end and they especially deserve praise and appreciation for their hard work. Regardless, my thanks go to all who took time from their busy schedules to volunteer for the arduous duty of reading and reviewing spanko-porn:
| ElainaFM Sir Hal Scarlett Kitty Trish |
Cheeky Kat Jess |
Pablo Wooz Lawrence |
Switcher Sarah Don Landhill |
We had a great team, working together to keep things running smoothly. I would like to thank Zpry for her fantastic work in creating the award plaques, among other things; Y Lee who worked daily to archive stories and reviews. Alex Birch, while he could not be co-organizer was none-the-less a huge help to me throughout the contest. Mija stood as back-up in the event of my death or dismemberment, and was also responsible for coming up with most of the special awards.
Once all the reviews and ratings were in I took a short list from the top scoring stories in each group. The number of stories in each short list varied because of tied scores, but numbered between five and eight entries. Each reviewer then voted for their top three favorite stories and stories were ranked by number of votes received. Reviewers were not allowed to vote for any category in which one of their own stories was on the short list.

And finally, as the only story to receive a unanimous vote from the judges, "Miss…? by Mr Shiny has been given THE Grand Award..
…but not really finally. Because the Grace Under Fire Award goes to Kessily!! [The organizer considered taking this out and then decided 'what the hell', so thanks, Mija!]
Again, I wish to thank the people who helped me make this year such a success, and I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the contest this year. This was a lot of fun (stressful and exhausting, but fun) for me. If you haven't had a chance to read all the entries this year I suggest you go to the website and do so.
Happy reading,
[The adorable] Kessily,
SSC 2006 Organizer
