This is edgy to me because of the issue of consent. This story is premised on the view that the PC requirement of "consenting adults" is a potential bore.

"Because spanking is degrading," I replied, rolling over on my tummy.

Erik was a good fuck. No question about that.

At 32, he had already learned how to please a woman, how to give her what she wants about 60 seconds after she demands it vociferously while scratching his chest.

At 38, I knew what I wanted. And I didn't want that.

"No, spanking is just spicy," he laughed. "Don't you like hot, spicy sex, Grace?"

With a knowing look, I leaned over and licked the bloody tracks of my fingernails on his chest.

He smiled. "So try it! Please?"

I stated the obvious. "I'm the assistant DA. I prosecute the stalkers, wife-beaters, and other related scum. No man should ever hit a woman under any circumstances. Especially my male subordinates. Especially me."

Erik said nothing.

"I'm your boss, Eric. If I let you hit me, that confuses the power relationship."

"Hey, Grace, don't throw your weight around. I do my job."

I smiled back coldly. "How's the Hastings case coming?"

"Ready for trial," boasted the Young Turk proudly. "I'll put that wife-beater away for a decade. Minimum."

"No you won't," I replied, lying on my tummy again. "I'm giving Gina Lomalinda the case. I want a woman prosecutor taking Hastings down."

"But I did all the work!" Erik exploded. "Grace, that just unfair! You have no right to..."

"I've every right. Look at the organizational chart. What I say goes."

"You fucking bitch!" said Erik, his voice deep and angry.

"What the fuck are you going to do about it? You have no power."

"No power? Well, send me to prison for this!"

He lunged on top of me, pressing his 210 pounds down on my shoulder blades while reaching down and...

SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!

"You motherfucker!" I screamed. "I'll arrest you! I'll have your balls in a jar!"

Of course, this only enraged him further.

Jesus fucking Christ!

What a spanking.

I sobbed as Erik rolled off me.

"You're fired," I said, when I recovered my breath and composure.

"Worth it!" he replied, rolling over and planting his feet on my floor. He stood to dress.

"Where you going?"

"Anywhere you aren't," he said with disgust.

I started to laugh. "Come here, crybaby. You're not fired. Ever hear of entrapment?"

"So what kind of sick game is this?" he demanded, hands on his hips.

"I don't like simpering, Ivy-league boys asking permission to spank," I shrugged. "Where's the turn-on with that? A spanking fantasy is like a rape fantasy. It's got to push the edge of the nonconsensual -- or it won't rock me."

"Somebody ought to fuck you for that dirty trick!" he said, removing his slacks again.

"No, Erik," I pleaded. "I'm really sore."

"I don't give a fuck!"

My 210-pound subordinate piled on top, spreading me. I fought like a wildcat, scratching his cheek. But I couldn't make him stop.

He forced himself inside...

Hurting me...

I think I liked the rape better than the spanking.

This author has a clean, crisp, to-the point style I always enjoy and appreciate. Some stories can "read" like an old Victorian mansion ... huge, cluttered and filled with every sort of knick-knack possible. Her stories read like a Manhattan loft apartment. Regarding the specifics of this story, I'm a fan of the non-consensual aspect of spanking and she nicely captured the anger and frustration that can lead to moments such as written about in this entry. I didn't particularly like the characters, a tribute to the author's ability to portray them as unlikeable, but I enjoyed the quick savageness of their actions. Nicely done.

I found this story edgy because I found the protagonist to be unlikable. The author did a fine job of creating that colorful character in few words, and that takes finesse.

Stories that are dialog driven, as this one is, can be quite potent - and this one packs a punch! Whereas the author, going by her comments on its edginess, seemed to see it in Erik's treatment of the protagonist, I saw it the other way around.

As to its edge: I'm all for a good mind-fuck, but threatening a partner's means of making a living wades into my squick zone - and that's exactly what edge is supposed to do. The protagonist practices a form of sexual harassment that I found disturbing. Her gaminess and deception did ultimately payoff - she got what she wanted. But, in my opinion, she went beyond "the edge of nonconsensual" to get it.

There is no doubt about who is the top in this tale, and it's not the spanker.

The story is skillfully written - it left this reader feeling uneasy and a little creeped out, but definitely not bored. In short, "edgy" is a fitting descriptor, and it is what the author intended. I wish this story had been submitted in the category of "Edge" instead of "Adult" because it would have garnered a higher score. It takes a special and rare skill to make an unlikable protagonist work, and this story does not pull it off outside the category of "Edge."

This is a very hot story. You've captured the Bottom's hope of real helplessness perfectly, which is so hard to accomplish in real life. In reality I think that tricking the other person would cause more problems than in your story, but that's the great thing about fiction, you can play out fantasies that wouldn't otherwise be feasible.

There's a lot of skill on show here. We're introduced to the characters with a focused efficiency that recalls good crime fiction, and then taken on a switchy ride as their power dynamic shifts back and forth - and as we figure out where the power really lies. By the end, we really feel like we've been told a complete story, and that something significant has happened. All of that is extremely tricky in 500 words, and yet it doesn't feel rushed. A pro job.

Very well written story, from the title all the way to the end. In my opinion, a story like this one sweeps the reader right along by using great dialog and terse descriptions from the character's view point. Of course I loved the twist, what's a short story without some cleverly thought out twist? And a hot spanking followed by a slightly nonconsensual rape?.....just yummy. Thank you.
