Preventative Measures

"You don't say, Katie!'

"Indeed I do. I'm pregnant again."

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph," Colleen put in.

"Saints preserve us," her sister Megan added.

The sentiment was shared by all 9 women present. Among them they had nearly 30 children.

"I don't know what to do about my Shamus," Deidre lamented, "He can't keep his hands off me, especially after he's had a pint or two at the pub."

"It isn't his hands you have to worry about," Anna said. The rest of the women got her drift and started to laugh.

"Well what are we going to do about it? I mean they are our husbands, but I barely get one of the wee ones out of his nappies, and the next one's on the way."

"You can't use a rubber. The Church says using one of them is a sin."

"I heard that Maureen O'Donnel's husband went over to Liverpool on holiday and when he came back he was ... you know! You can't get that kind of an operation in this country."

"'Tis true, she hasn't been pregnant for a couple of years. But I don't think our men would stand for it."

"I don't think the fellows are standing when it's done. It isn't like going to the loo." More giggles.

"I keep telling me Sean, 'no,' but he doesn't listen."

"They like spoiled little boys when it comes to this."

"That's brilliant, Katie!"

"What's brilliant?"

"The spoiled little boy idea."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean what do you do when your Tommy acts up?"

"I pull down his britches, expose his bum and lay a strapping piece a willow across it. That' what I do."

"And who's to say that what's good for the boy isn't good for the man. If he's acting like a child, then by God, treat him like a child."

"Oh no, I couldn't do that!"

"And why not?"

"It would hurt him."

"Any more than labor pains hurt you?"

"You got a point there."

"Next time he takes a fancy to your fanny and it's that time. Tell him, 'no.' and if he doesn't stop. Put a switch to his arse just before the tender moment."

The women all nodded and agreed. This was a good thing to do.

The pregnancies stopped.

The moral of the story: A switch in time saves nine.

skull reviews

I thought this was a really fun idea for a story. I love the idea of women deciding together how to take care of problems and when there is a disciplinary twist it is even better! While reading this story I could not help but wonder what the church's view on this particular method of birth control would be! That said, having only 3 kids in my own life, I can't imagine women with that many children having time to get together and plot! I think this was very creative, thanks for a fun read!

This was a creative little story  giving a humorous solution to a problem faced by many.  The author does a nice job creating interesting and believable dialogue between the characters.

I thought the little moral added to the ending was superfluous.  I think it was supposed to be amusing, but the story was good enough that it did well standing on its own.

I enjoyed the use of a switch.  It's an implement not often used in spanking stories, but was very appropriate to the setting of this story. I especially liked the line ""I pull down his britches, expose his bum and lay a strapping piece a willow across it. That' what I do."It made a very appealing image as well as conveyed the character's situation quite well.  Lastly, I appreciated the uniqueness of this story.  It had an original plot with a conflict not often thought about by the average readers of SSC.

Interesting premise for a story, but it was the pun at the end made it worth reading. I imagine a number of women in their situations had similar ideas from time to time. Not sure how well it would go over, I mean if they can't even say no to them about sex, how are they going to enforce discipline, but hey, it's cute. Still it was brief and mostly dialogue so I think it was the punchline that saves it.

I do think it was obviously built around the motto at the end, and probably it was plot driven because of that, but still enjoyable.

Simple, straight forward, entertainment, and an inspired illumination of an old proverb.  Of course, there will be some men who find the application only inspiration to their lust.
