A Spanking Parody of
"Going to the Chapel (of Love)"
Copyright 2008 by John Marks

Goin to the Corner

I'm goin to the corner
and i'm gonna get spanked
I'm goin to the cor-or-ner
and i'm gonna get spanked
I've been really naughty,
so i'm gonna get spanked
Goin' to the corner of shame

I've been caught and
I'm feelin blue
My friends all teased me
because they knew
Today's the day
I will cry "Boo-ho"
And my bottom, is gonna be sore.

Because I'm goin to the corner
and i'm gonna get spanked
Yes, I'm goin to the cor-or-ner
and i'm gonna get spanked
I've been really naughty,
so i'm gonna get spanked
Goin' to the corner of shame

The strap will smack
and my butt will shine
Ouchie, I will cry, have a big sore hind
Then back to corner where i'll do my time
And i'll never be naughty anymore

Because I'm goin to the corner
and i'm gonna get spanked
Yes, I'm goin to the cor-or-ner
and i'm gonna get spanked
I've been really naughty,
so i'm gonna get spanked
Goin' to the corner of shame
(Smack Smack Smack)
Goin' to the corner of shame
(Smack Smack Smack)
Goin' to the corner of shame...

Well this even drove me back to my store of golden oldies to listen to the Dixie Cups original as I couldnt quite remember the metre of the verse. But yes it holds pretty true. Not so convinced about the scan of the chorus though. 'Ma-aaa-rried' seems to fit better than 'sp-aa---aaa--anked' but its a good effort.

Most of this parody is the same chorus over and over again.  I would have liked more varied lyrics.  Still, if it did have music with it and someone who could sing, it might work well.  However, I feel I need to base my review on only the poetry and I would have liked more than I got.

Short and smacky, made sense with the music.

This is a cute poem. Some of the rhythm is a bit forced in spots but as one who remembers the original "Chapel of Love" pop tune on the radio, this was fun.
