 Last night the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup (Yaay!).  I'm not exactly into hockey, but it's our team, so it's something to celebrate.  A while back I heard that Sidney Crosby, who's on the Penguins, who we beat last night, lives with Mario Lemieux, who's also on the team.  It's a mentor situation obviously, but the first thing I thought this morning was "I wonder if Sidney got a spanking because they lost".  It stuck in my brain, and I knew I had to write the story.  This only the second M/M story I've ever written, and hopefully this one is better than the one I wrote years ago. LOL


Sidney stood in front of Mario, not willing to look his mentor in the eye.  He knew he was in trouble.  They had lost the biggest game ever, his first shot at the Stanley Cup, and he had blown it.  Mario had promised Sidney a hard spanking if they lost.  He was the Golden Boy, the kid who had made it big earlier than anybody else, and Mario was always reminding him not to let it go to his head.  Now he stood in front of the one person he didn't want to disappoint, about to get a very hard spanking on his bare bottom.  He looked to Mario like an older brother, even though he was old enough to be Sidney's father.  When Mario had offered him a place to live, he jumped at the chance, even with the strict rules he had to follow.

Mario sat down on the chair in the middle of the room, and then pulled Sidney down across his lap.  The younger man went over without protest, accepting his fate.  His face flushed as red as his bare bottom would soon be when Mario pulled his shorts down.  The first smack of Mario's hard hand made Sidney yelp.  Soon the spanks were raining down on his bare buns faster than he could take, and he started breathing very fast, trying not to cry.

Mario knew that Sidney needed this spanking.  He always took failure too hard, so Mario had told him that he would be spanked if they lost this game.  It would take the guilt away, because he would know that he had been punished, and he wouldn't beat himself up about it for the next three months.  He'd be able to go into next season with a positive attitude, ready to do what needed to be done to win next time.  He noticed that Sidney's bare bottom was becoming very red.  Sidney hadn't given up yet though, hadn't broken and cried, so he knew he'd have to step up the spanking.  He had put the hairbrush in his back pocket to keep it a secret, but now he took it out and spanked Sidney's already hot bottom even harder.

Sidney panicked when he felt the hairbrush land for the first time.  He wondered where Mario had hidden it, but soon couldn't think about anything other than the searing pain he was feeling.  In short order he was struggling to keep himself under control, but soon found it impossible.  He started blubbering, feeling helpless and very sorry. After what seemed an hour but was only a few minutes, he realized that the spanking had stopped, but his crying didn't.

Mario stood him up and put him in the corner, to calm down and consider why he'd been spanked.  Sidney felt better, even though he knew his bottom would hurt for for at least a few days.  He knew that he wouldn't let this happen again.  He'd do much better next season.

This was a very original piece for me to read. I liked it a lot because I haven't seen any other stories that pertained to the Stanley Cup before. It was a very nice tie in to the classic mentoring story.

The author did a very nice job being descriptive in how both the spankee and the spanker felt, and how they each knew and felt about the other.The spanking was well described as well without using the normal "spank whack spank" words. I enjoyed reading this story very much and found it to be a very positive story from start to finish for the reader.

For pro sports fans (in this case hockey), this is hardly an uncommon situation: A young player who is expected to, because of his superior athletic skills and/or playing a critical position, be a key contributor to winning a title but falls short due to his lacking pro playoff experience and possibly also maturity. (I personally think back over the decades to names like Roman, James, Pat, Jim and Marc, but it's certainly common to all high-profile pro sports.)

To me the spanking in this story was clearly for emotional release rather than true punishment, which would explain why an NHL hockey player who was accustomed to taking hard physical hits would nonetheless be on the verge of tears even initially when the spanks were being given only by hand. Did Sidney actually let his team down by playing poorly or was it a team loss that he still felt personally responsible for? It likely didn't matter (and I don't "follow"  hockey enough to speculate either way in terms of the RL situation) since he's shown as feeling guilty before his punishment and relieved after it.

This is an interesting portrayal of a mentor-protege' relationship which incorporates corporal correction, not a new concept "per se" but relevantly applied to current pro sports.

If the purpose of the spanking was to give Sidney release from his failure, the author could do more showing rather than telling by giving us more internalizing from Sidney, going over his failings in his mind during the spanking.  A good effort, entertaining.

I am both a hockey fan, and also enjoy M/M stories, but I still had problems feeling comfortable with the content of this story. Perhaps because I actually feel I know these hockey players and admire them, and see them as people and not just celebrities, it could be why I feel placing them in a spanking scenario like this smacks a bit with non-consent.

Otherwise, the story was grammatically well written and complete with motive for a descriptive spanking.

Although this was written as an MM story, it could just as easily have been F/F or any other variation.  The plot is a familiar one - sportster feels he has failed his team, himself, his mentor, although we are not told if this is an actual fact or whether it's only his perception and acceptance of guilt for something which is not in fact his fault.

In a way that is immaterial - he needs a spanking, he has been promised one, and he is going to get it.

The story is written succintly, yet leaves nothing of importance missing, and even if the plot is a variation on a theme, it is well done and makes a pleasant read.
