The Ladder

Mary Richards

"Someday im gona run away an he aint never gona find me!" she pouted thinking to herself as she ran out the back door and across the backyard climbing the ladder to her special place.

She came here when she was upset, sad, mad. Basically she came here all the time it was her place, decorated just the way she wanted it to be. Even colored pictures on the wall done in markers and some in chalk, crayons didn't work real well so she didn't use them on the walls. She loved this place better then her bedroom in the house. If she could, she would sleep here every single time she was made to go to sleep.

Right now she was hiding out from them all of them were stupid she mumbled not too quietly as she reached the top rung of the ladder and swung her body up and into the tree house.

The hatch door that was normally kept open she slammed shut and stomped on for good measure before turning her attention to the little room around her.

"Jessica, you come down here right now little girl!"

Jessica made a face as she heard her name being called out and moved over to the window opening the curtains and stuck her head out leaning over she looked down towards the ground below her that looked so far away... yup a nice safe zillion miles away she thought so she picked up the water balloon that she kept a stash of in the milk crate and dropped it out the window.

"NO! Go away your mean an I aint never comin down, an you can't make me!" she yelled angrily as her balloon crashed to the ground next to her target who was looking up at her as she yelled at him.

"Jessica Lynn! That's enough of that little girl! Speaking not fast enough as another water balloon came sailing out of the tree house window as she glared at him with a fiery little pout on her face.

He stood debating go up and get her tan her little bottom where they stood, wait her out underneath the tree or just go back into the house and deal with it when she came back in, when a novel idea struck him as a third water filled balloon splattered to the ground inches away from him.

She smiled as she watched him walk away. "BOK, BOK" she put her arms under her arm pits and made a noise like a chicken and stuck her tongue out at his back as she watched him go back to the house. She was angry at him for always taking her side of things and she had liked throwing the water balloons at him. Doing a warriors victory dance around the room she decided she liked being the bossy one for once.

Jessica decided to tell him what she thought he was so she went back to her window and stuck her head out and just as she was thinking that he was running away like a "big fat chicken!" which she yelled out the window just in time to see him coming back towards her tree house with a ladder and garden hose in his hand.

Her eyes went to a shocked rounded expression as the ladder tapped against the wooden frame of the little house and suddenly his head appeared in the window. The two of them were eyeball to eyeball both armed she with a balloon he with the garden hose.

"So young lady are you ready to talk to me on peace treaty terms, or do I declare war upon your kingdom win the battle and take over your lands for oh say a week."

Jessica scurried to the other side of the room holding onto her weapon while he aimed the garden hose into the window his hand already on the trigger.  "B But that's not fair! That aint the door!"

"Nope but where do you think I learned to make you this tree house from? I had one first so I know all the secrets to getting in and out of it. So you ready to declare truce and come talk to me about what happened between you and your sister now?"

With a pout on her face Jessica moved over towards the window and put her water balloon back into the weapons box, she knew when she had been out gunned. "Okkk"

"That's my girl besides I already have a big enough kingdom ya know I don't really want to invade yours." He winked at her as she came close enough to him to see him do so. Go on down the normal way ill wait for you." He told her with a smile.

Once Jessica had reached the last rung on the ladder he spoke again with a bit of a laugh to his voice "Oh and Jessica this is for bombing your Daddy." At the same time his hand released from the trigger on the garden hose and an ice cold stream of water hit her bottom soaking her pants and panties. "DADDDYYTHATTSSCOLLDD!!"

He watched as she ran into the house to escape any more chance the hose might hit its mark again and he put the ladder back up on the garage wall and made his way to her bedroom.

Walking into her room he found her laying on her bed face down she wasn't happy her sister had teased her on the way in he had heard it while he was in the garage. "Okay let's hear your side of the story, what happened between the two of you? And before you start I don't want to hear any name calling, or yelling and if you try to run off again on me little girl you will loose the tree house for a week are we clear?"

Jessica nodded her head into her pillow as her Daddy finished "Good girl now come on over here for a minute and talk to me and not the pillow silly girl." Aaron picked his daughter up and sat her in his lap as he said this to her.

"Daddyyy shes always yelling at mee to do stuff and she's always bein mean and teling me she's gona telllyouuu" Jessica started to cry as she told Aaron that her older sister was just being a typical older sister, the two of them didn't always get along when he was at work and it was up to him to at times settle disagreements once he got home.

"Well what is she telling you to do today Jessica? Is it things that Daddy would tell you to do? Like your homework or your chores?"

"yeaaboththemmdadddyyyy" Jessica was now crying pretty hard as she thought her big sister was just trying to be her Daddy and she didn't like it at all, she didn't get to boss nobody around so why should Lynette.

"Jessica you know that Daddy can't always be here to tell you to do the things that your supposed to be doing, and that your older sister is in charge when Daddy's not home because she's bigger then you are and knows a little bit more stuff. Now if Lynette is being mean when she reminds you to do what you need to do that's a different story. But you young lady are NOT to have temper tantrums just because Daddy isn't the one home telling you those things. That is very naughty and Daddy doesn't like when you or Lynette is naughty now does he?" Aaron moved his daughters face so that she was looking at him as he scolded her.

"Bbbut Daddy I wana boss too" Jessica sniffled and wiped her arm across her face as she looked up at her Daddy.

"Aaron smiled at his youngest child, I know you do honey but this isn't about being bossy this is just about doing the stuff you have to do because its important stuff everyday and your sister or me whoever tells it to you is only trying to help you not to forget to do it. Now you're in trouble with Daddy for having the temper tantrum and screaming and yelling at your sister and me, you know Daddy doesn't like that and that it's naughty to do don't you Jessica Lynn?" As Aaron said this last part he stood his daughter up off his lap and watched as her hands flew to behind her and onto her bottom.

While his daughter's hands were busy trying to rub the spanking that hadn't even happened yet away Aaron unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans and pulled them down to her knees. Jessica was always in jeans or shorts she never wore a dress unless he forced her to and then it was only after he had ended up spanking her first.

"Daddyyy I sorry don't wana spanking!" Jessica cried out as Aaron pulled her across his lap he rested his hand on her Tinkerbelle panties and scolded one last time. "Jessica Lynn Renolds temper tantrums are naughty and when you have them you will get a spanking." With his simple yet effective scolding finished his hand rose off his young daughter's bottom and fell again with practiced ease.

After a few minutes and once Jessica had gotten to a certain point where her cries were no longer just begging and yelling "Daddy no spanking, please no Daddy" and the like Aaron stood her up again and watched as she jumped up and down and rubbed her bottom. "Jessica I want you to go on and get me the ruler off your desk."

Aaron wasn't to happy with his daughters behavior today and he was going to give her a two part spanking like he normally did only this time instead of just his hand it would be hand and ruler.

Jessica ran to her desk and picked up the ruler and ran back to her daddy not wanting to get into any more trouble but her begging hadn't stopped the entire time since he had told her to go get the ruler. It wasn't a huge ruler but it was wood and it did hurt A LOT.

Aaron took the ruler from his daughter's hands and placed it on the bed next to him and reached out and pulled her panties down to her knees her jeans were already off from her first spanking and the kicking that she had done and most likely her panties would join them.

"DADDYYYSORRYYYY" Jessica cried out as Aaron took her by the arm and gently pulled her back across his lap and picked up the ruler which he had placed where she would see it when he did pick it up.

"I hope that you remember this spanking Jessica Lynn because Daddy doesn't want to have to do it again anytime soon." With that said he began the spanking again starting at the top of her chubby little bottom and working his way down and around several times, when she reached back he took her hand in his and spanked her thighs and returned again to her bottom once they were reddened.

Once he was satisfied that she had learned her lesson for the time being anyway about having a temper tantrum where it came to being told what to do by her older sister he picked her up and held her in his arms rocking her as he smoothed her wet hair from her face. "Shh its ok now honey its all over with, your all forgiven Daddy loves you. Looking down he saw that she had fallen asleep in his arms Aaron wasn't surprised and he laid her into her bed on her tummy tucking her in and kissing her forehead gently he whispered "I love you" and walked out of her room leaving the doorway ajar.

C.K.

First of all, this story has too many errors in technique (beyond merely an expected few typos) and they do reduce its readability somewhat, IMHO it could've been edited a bit more carefully, notably RE where speech ends and description begins, before being submitted (I know that the SSC isjust a contest for fun, but IMHO if the story was worth submitting it was worth editing a little more carefully.)

The light-hearted tone of this child-spanking narrative is unusual, the girl's father was behaving rather playfully--outmaneuvering and outgunning her in a water fight--even while bringing her under his control so that he could administer the chastisement. Although part of her punishment was for Jessica's "resistance" to her father's disciplinary intention (and by soaking her seat after his daughter's "surrender" he made the ensuing spanking sting more via being delivered on a damp derriere), he didn't seem particulary upset or fazed by her initial defiance.

The paddling itself had a warm (emotionally as well as physically on Jessica's behind), friendly feel to it, as though "Daddy" didn't really feel that the girl's offense (resenting being "bossed around" by her older sister and therefore being rude to her) had been all that terrible but it was something that he felt required some punitive reaction on his part.

This is a well-rendered description of the type of loving, not-too-severe childhood spanking that both participants end up laughing about in retrospect.

Barrister

A classic childhood story written by someone who clearly understands and remembers childhood with all of its traumas and behaviours. The writing accurately reflects the point of view of a child.

Mija

A sweet father / daughter story with creative dialog and nice interplay between parent and child. I also enjoyed the childish "as spoken" style of dialog. However, at various points the "little girl" voice blended into the narrator voice -- this was distracting. The author should consider editing more closely for this as well as grammar and spelling. These are the story's only weakness.
