Lap Therapy

When, one Saturday morning, Luke's girlfriend Jezabel threw a tantrum, Luke knew that she was in for some lap therapy.
He called her over and sat down on the bed. "Fetch your hairbrush," he commanded.
At first she protested. But they both could hear the grumpiness in her voice, and after a few minutes she relented. She fetched the wooden hairbrush.
"Now," Luke said, "We just have to decide what form of lap therapy you need."
Jezabel had known Luke for a year now, and he knew of her frequent and chaotic shifts in mood. At one point he had considered dumping her after a heated argument, but his affection for her had prevented him.
Finally, she had told him that she needed help in controlling her temper. Confronted with an aspect of her personality that she did not like, she had figured out her priorities in life.
Together, they had introduced lap therapy into their relationship. It involved Luke's lap, Jezabel's hairbrush, and their bedroom mirror.
Luke was the kindest of men and incapable of hurting a fly, normally. He outright refused to take a dominant role in the proceedings. So Jezabel had to accept that lap therapy was in order before it could be undertaken. He could strenuously suggest it, thought. He was merely human.
Lap therapy itself took two forms, depending on Jezabel's needs at the time. The first mode consisted of her sitting on Luke's lap while he brushed her hair with the brush, as she looked at herself in the mirror and divulged the source of her moods to him. These sessions generally ended up with her feeling happy that she had such an attentive and nurturing partner.
The second form consisted of her bending over Luke's lap, and having her ass bared and spanked with her hairbrush, while she watched his strong arm in motion and her pained responses in the mirror. After this session, Jezabel would have had the moodiness spanked out of her. Lotion might also be required.
What it came down to was Jezabel's choice. She could experience either facet of her boyfriend - either have him pamper her, mollify her, and comfort her. Or feel him take command and hurt her until she was sorry that she'd been so mean. And usually some more for good measure.
At first she was averse to lap therapy #2. Why would anyone choose pain? But a couple of weeks after their agreement, she had insulted him so much that she realised that she had hurt him. The pain she caused others could only be alleviated by enduring pain herself. So she had bent over his knee that evening, after baring her behind and handing him the brush. She begged him to hurt her. When it was over, she apologised to him. From then on, she used both types of lap therapy when appropriate.
Today, though, there wasn't much doubt which she deserved. She lowered her jeans, and soon there was pain.

This story has an interesting premise, the same lap that is good for comforting is good for spanking. And, it is the spankee who gets to decide rather than the spanker. The story would be more interesting if it were told from the spankee's point as to which she would choose and why. And it begs the question what happens if the spanker doesn't agree with her choice.

An excellent story about an excellent form of therapy. I liked the choice being left to the patient and not the therapist as it makes her accept responsibility for her actions. I wonder if we can convince medical schools to teach this form of therapy along with cognitive, Freudian and Jungian.

This story describes an interesting approach to dealing with extreme moodiness in a partner, obviously this type of response works best within a M/F or F/F scenario, especially if one presumes that the woman receiving the hairbrush strokes--of one kind or another--has long, silken, lustrous hair that it would be pleasurable to brush and also possesses a sweetly-rounded derriere for spanking purposes.
Luke clearly doesn't enjoy having to discipline Jezabel rather severely on occasion, but apparently he accepts this responsibility in order to preserve a romantic relationship that he finds rewarding in spite of his lover's tantrums. He'd rather "spare the rod," but sometimes that's not a viable option--I'm thinking about that supposed biblical admonition (which not everyone agrees is a reference to corporal punishment) because both characters have biblical names (albeit with a slight spelling variation in Jezabel's case) and I'm wondering if that choice of appellations was intentional or coincidental.
Whether this kind of an arrangement would work out well in the long run in a RL situation, say if the couple got married, that's a matter of conjecture. Even apologies after a spanking session may not be enough to maintain a relationship if one partner can't eventually control his/her emotionally hurtful behavior toward the other. Of course, it's possible to speculate that the stinging variation of "lap therapy" may gradually improve Jezabel's self-control if Luke can bring himself to administer it steadily enough over a period of time.
At any rate, it's a clever concept--and if Jezabel ever finds herself unable to decide which brand of "lap therapy" she requires, there's always the coin-flip option: "Heads or tails."
